To start the operating system of a computer

Definition

"To boot", it is to start, launch, start, or to initialize the Operating system of the computer.

Description

The "bootage" follows a precise sequence: with the powering, the BIOS checks initially, in general, the presence of a "diskette system" in the reader has. If a diskette not Système is present, the user is invited to withdraw it. If no diskette is present, the System seeks the files of starting on the disc specified in the "setup" (accessible during starting by pressing the Echap key). In general, the files of starting are stored on a disc dur(lector c). With each starting, the BIOS carries out a test to check if all is in order. The emitted "beep" means that the System is in state. Files essential with starting are in particular "boot.ini", which indicates which Operating system it is necessary to launch, "autoexec" and "config". It is advisable to safeguard these files on a diskette ("diskette of starting") if the originals would be lost or deteriorated.
