Synthetizer
Acoustic electro apparatus which makes it possible to create and to modify sounds starting from the elements which constitute those.
Current abbreviation: synthé. Synthetizer of images: device allowing to create synthesized images starting from parameters determined by the user. Generally, the synthetizers used in music are secured by a controller making it possible to play about it, generally a keyboard (but it is also possible to order a synthetizer starting from a guitar, the surfaces struck using rods...). Contrary to a spread belief, a synthetizer is thus not "an instrument which plays all alone", idea which comes from a confusion with certain instruments génèrant a musical accompaniment automatically.
