Principal building
The principal building is a term employed in the field of the insurance dwelling.
Here how it is defined, according to the types of buildings: For a house: - the part with use of dwelling of the policy-holder - basements, cellars, garages and buildings entirely closed, in direct communication with the part with use of dwelling of the policy-holder For an apartment: - the privative part with use of dwelling of the policy-holder The developed surface of the principal building is given by adding up (thickness of the walls included/understood) surfaces of the ground floor and each stage, of the cellars, the basements, the garages, the roofs and non made-up attics, being understood that the non made-up cellars, basements, roofs and attics are counted respectively for half of their real surface.
