Ping
Ping is an order resulting from the Unix world which makes it possible to measure the response time of a machine another on a network.
By abuse language, one indicates by "ping" the response time between 2 machines on a network (local area network or Internet). More this response time is low, better is the quality of connection. If the response time has only little importance for surfing on Internet, it can become important for applications or the data exchanges must be fast. When the response time becomes too large, a lag is obtained (perceptible shift between the order and the answer).
