 MPLS

Definition

Standardized switching technique largely used in the networks of operators; it is derived from the technique invented by Cisco the "Tag switching".

Description

Today, one speaks about IP/MPLS for IP over MPLS. This technology allows a commutation of fast packages IP, gives the possibility of creating tight corporate networks (VPN) and of managing criteria of QoS (quality of service). For the operators, this technology has the enormous advantage of being able to create complex networks customers simply: by combining VPN of the any-to-any type (all the sites are seen between them directly) and the VPN of the hub&spoke type (star architecture)
