Invisible Web
The whole of the Web pages which are not indexed by the search engines.
The invisible Web is mainly made up of the information stored in data bases, which are published in the shape of dynamic Web pages. The Net surfer, like the search engines, can reach this information only by carrying out requests, i.e. by questioning the data bases in question. However the only questions which the search engines can raise are those which were determined by the originators of the Web sites and which generally materialize by bonds. Any request not envisaged in advance or not authorized will not be seen bringing answer. Thus, a great mass of information remains invisible with the search engines and the Net surfers. Form also part of the invisible Web the orphan pages since the only means of reaching it is to know their exact address a priori (URL). Lastly, the Web pages created dynamically and whose contents are very frequently updated (for example, banner pages of the great sites of topicality whose contents change several times per day) can also form part of the invisible Web in the sense that only the last version of the page is generally consultable. The invisible Web is much wider than the visible Web.
