Definition

The hard disk is the physical space of data storage on a computer.

Description

The hard disk forms part of the fundamental elements of a computer, it is here that the operating system as well as the software is. Indeed it is used to store the data inside the computer. For a few years, the external hard disks have made their appearance, it acts of spaces of storage outside the computer, generally connected in USB. They in particular make it possible to store files and to consult them on any computer. The principal characteristics of a hard disk are its "size" (expressed in Go or Giga Octets) which determines the number of files and of software which will be able to be put in computer, a number of revolutions per minute (TPM or RPM) which determines the speed of the hard disk, and normalizes it (IDE, SCSI, SATA...) which represents its mode of connection to the mother chart. One sometimes also indicates a measurement of the noise which it generates (expressed in decibels dB).
