Equestrian endurance
Equestrian discipline consisting in traversing long distances with horse of which the winner is that which will have established best time while having avoided a too great tiredness with his mounting.
Disputed on courses from 20 to 200 km, the equestrian endurance is a demanding sporting discipline for the horse and its rider. Appeared at the XIXème century, it is the fruit of the long history between the man and the horse, this last having remained a long time only and single means of transport on long distances. The equestrian endurance is a discipline marginal and little known, but very spectacular and remarkable by the attention paid to the health of the horse. It asks for a perfect knowledge of its mounting and claims good physical conditions. Many races proceed in France, among which one can quote the 160 km of Florac (48) or Galmier Saint (42), or the 130 km of Holy Marry sea (13). The championships of Europe as the championships of the World are often the occasion to shine for the teams of France.
