Small house generally integrated into Riad in the Maghreb.
Description
The douiria represents the apartments of the host to receive the foreign visitors with the family. This apartment generally has an entry independent of the access to Riad to prevent that the visitors (men) do not meet and do not see the women living in Riad In the respect of the Islamic tradition. The decoration of will douira traditional is neat to give a good image of the owner to the visitors. With the parcelling out of the habitat in medinas of the Maghreb, the douirias are sometimes converted into dwellings entirely separated from the original riads.
