 BIND

Definition

The most widespread implementation of protocol DNS on Internet.

Description

Resulting from the world of the free software, BIND is the implementation of protocol DNS and the Domain Name Server (BIND DNS) most largely used on Internet. Thus, the purpose of this software is the first resolution of domain names (comprehensible by the human one) in IP addresses (comprehensible by the machine). For that, BIND stores in memory and maintains a data base putting in correspondence the field and address IP of the host to be contacted.
